Terms of Service
2026-09-27
1. These terms
Batata is a social gaming platform: a feed of small games made by Batata, with scores, leaderboards, challenges, comments and messages between players. It is available on the web at batata.world and as an app for phones. These Terms of Service are the agreement between you and Batata for everything the platform does. By creating an account or using Batata you accept them.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Batata. If the law where you live sets a higher minimum age for a service like this, that higher age applies to you. If you are under the age at which you can agree to these terms yourself, a parent or guardian must agree for you.
How Batata handles your personal data is described in the Privacy Policy and the Cookie Policy. What we ask of players in the places they write to each other is in the Community Guidelines. Those documents are part of these terms.
2. Your account
You can look around and play a few games without an account. To keep scores, compete, message and follow other players you create an account with an email address, a phone number, or a Google or Apple sign-in. The information you give must be accurate and yours. One person, one account.
Your account is yours to look after. Keep your sign-in codes to yourself, do not let anyone else use your account, and tell us at hello@batata.world if you think it has been used without your permission. You are responsible for what happens on your account until you tell us.
We may suspend or close an account whose details are false, that another person is using, or that breaks these terms or the Community Guidelines.
3. Your licence to use Batata
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, revocable licence to use Batata and play its games for your own enjoyment, as long as you follow these terms. It is not a licence to do any of the following:
- copy, download, modify, decompile or redistribute a game, the app, the website or any part of them;
- use Batata for a business or a commercial purpose without our written agreement;
- collect information about the platform or other players with bots, scrapers or other automated tools;
- get around the sandbox games run in, the sign-in, the score checks or any other protection;
- sell, rent or transfer your account, scores or rank to anyone.
4. Games
Every game on Batata is made by Batata. Games run in an isolated sandbox that cannot read your account, your cookies or your messages. We add, change, pause and remove games and features as we see fit, for technical, commercial or legal reasons, and a game's progress, timers or saves can be lost when a game changes.
Some players are invited to test a game before its release. A test build is confidential: do not record, share or describe it outside Batata until the game is released, and give your feedback honestly. Feedback and suggestions you send us, about a test or anything else, may be used freely by Batata without any obligation to you.
5. Playing fair
Scores are checked by our servers. Do not cheat: no automated play, no tampered games, no exploiting a bug for a score, no manipulating leaderboards, challenges, ranks or the feed. We remove scores we cannot trust, reset a leaderboard when it has been abused, and suspend accounts that cheat.
6. How to behave
Comments, chats, voice notes, photos, videos and profiles exist so players can compete, tease and cheer each other on. When you use them you agree not to:
- harass, bully, threaten or intimidate anyone, or attack people for who they are;
- post sexual content of any kind, or anything that sexualises or endangers a minor;
- post content that is illegal, or that you have no right to post;
- impersonate another person, a brand or Batata;
- spam, scam, phish, or share links that mislead;
- share private information about anyone without their consent;
- upload malware or anything designed to harm the platform, a device or a person;
- abuse the report system with false reports.
The Community Guidelines say more about what is allowed and what happens when it is not.
7. Your content
What you write, say, record or upload on Batata stays yours. So that the platform can work, you give Batata a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy, transmit, display and adapt your content for the purpose of running, protecting and improving the platform: showing your comment to other players, delivering your message to the people in a chat, drawing your profile picture at the right size, keeping a report reviewable. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except where the content has already been shared with other players, where it is needed to resolve a report, or where the law requires us to keep it.
You are responsible for your content. Post only what you have the right to post. If you believe content on Batata infringes your rights, write to hello@batata.world with enough detail for us to find it and judge the claim; we act on valid notices and may tell the person who posted the content.
8. Sharing and streaming your play
You may record, stream and share your own play on Batata, including on video and social platforms, and you may earn from those videos, as long as Batata's branding stays visible where the platform shows it, you respect other players' rights and privacy, and you do not suggest that Batata sponsors or endorses you unless we have agreed to it.
9. Reporting, blocking and enforcement
Any comment, message or profile can be reported from where you see it, and any player can be blocked. Reports are reviewed by people. Depending on what we find we remove the content, warn the account, restrict what it can do, suspend it or close it; severe or repeated violations end an account. Where the law requires it we cooperate with authorities.
If you believe we acted on your account by mistake, write to hello@batata.world and we will look again.
10. Other people's services
Batata works with a few services that are not ours: Google and Apple for signing in, GIPHY for the GIFs you can search in a chat, and the app stores that distribute the app. Their own terms apply to your use of them. Links that other players share in a chat lead to places we do not control; open them at your own judgement.
11. Purchases
Batata is free to use and sells nothing today: there are no purchases, subscriptions or paid items. If we introduce them, the terms that govern them will be shown to you before you buy anything and will be added to this document.
12. Intellectual property
Batata, its games, its name, its logo, its design and its software belong to Batata or its licensors and are protected by copyright and trademark law. Nothing in these terms gives you any right in them beyond the licence in section 3.
13. Ending things
You can stop using Batata at any time and delete your account from Settings on the website or in the app; how deletion works is described in Delete your account. We may suspend or end your access at once if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or if we cannot verify who you are. Sections 7, 12, 14, 15 and 16 continue to apply after your account ends.
14. No warranty
Batata is provided as it is and as it is available. We work to keep it running and safe, but we do not promise that it will always be available, free of errors or exactly as it was yesterday, and we are not responsible for what other players post. Nothing in this section limits any warranty the law gives you as a consumer and does not let us exclude.
15. Limits on our liability
To the extent the law allows, Batata is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, lost data, lost scores, or loss caused by content or conduct of other players or by services we do not control. Where the law allows liability to be capped, our total liability to you for all claims together is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim and one hundred euros. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything the law does not allow to be limited.
16. Your responsibility to us
If your breach of these terms, your content or your use of Batata leads to a claim against Batata by someone else, you will compensate Batata for the loss and reasonable costs that claim causes, to the extent the law allows.
17. Changes to these terms
We update these terms when the platform, the law or our understanding changes. Each version carries a date. For a change that matters to you we give notice in the app or by email before it takes effect and ask you to accept the new version the next time you sign in; if you do not accept it, you can delete your account. Using Batata after a change takes effect means you accept it.
18. Law and disputes
If something goes wrong, write to us first at hello@batata.world; most things can be settled by talking. These terms are governed by the law of the country where Batata's operating company is established, and disputes go to the courts of that country. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, or your right to bring a claim in your own courts.
19. The rest
These terms, with the documents they name, are the whole agreement between you and Batata about the platform. If a part of them turns out to be invalid, the rest still applies. If we do not act on a breach, we can still act on it later. You cannot transfer your rights under these terms to anyone; we may transfer ours to a company that takes over Batata, and we will tell you if that happens. These terms are written in English and translated for your convenience; where a translation and the English differ, the English governs.
20. Contact
Questions, complaints and notices about these terms go to hello@batata.world.
