Privacy Policy
Version 2026-09-14
Draft — this document is pending legal review and will be finalised before public launch. The consent you give is recorded against this exact version.
What we collect
- Account data: your email, display name and handle, and your consent records.
- Play data: which games you play, scores, likes, saves, follows, challenges, and the category preferences you pick — this powers your feed.
- Messages: chats and voice notes you send, stored so your conversations work. We do not scan private messages; user reports bring a specific message to review.
- Usage events: which games you viewed and played and for how long, what you liked or saved, the country and city the network resolved and the kind of device, used to rank your feed and fix what breaks. No message content and no precise location. Where the law asks for it we record nothing until you say yes; the switch is in the Privacy center in Settings.
- Security records: sign-in attempts and codes with the network address, kept twelve months to spot abuse.
Cookies and storage
Batata sets one cookie, the session that keeps you signed in. It is strictly necessary and carries no tracking. We use no advertising cookie, no analytics cookie and no script from another company. The website and the app keep a small local store of your own settings (your theme, your sound choice, your consent choice) on your device.
What we do NOT do
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not read or scan your private messages for advertising or ranking.
- We do not send you marketing email unless you separately opted in — and you can opt out any time.
Who can see what
Your profile (name, handle, games played, scores, rank, followers) is visible to other players. Your messages are visible only to their participants. Voice notes are served only to chat members.
Your rights
You can download a copy of your data from the Privacy center in Settings, and delete your account from Settings on the website or in the app. Deletion takes effect at once and the data is erased after thirty days unless you sign in again in that time. For anything else, or if you cannot sign in, write to hello@batata.world.
How long we keep things
- Your account and what you made (profile, messages, comments, scores, saves) while the account exists, then thirty days.
- Usage events tied to your account until the account is deleted, when they are cut loose from any identity and kept only as counts. Events from visitors without an account carry a random identifier that is never linked to a person.
- Security records (sign-in attempts with the network address) twelve months.
- Consent records as long as the account exists, so we can show what you agreed to and when.
- Moderation records for content that was reported, as long as needed to act on repeat abuse.
Where it lives
Data is stored on our servers and processed only to run the service. Games you play run in an isolated sandbox and cannot read your account data, cookies or messages.
